Activities
Diagnosis and therapy of oncourological diseases (in particular cancers of the prostate, kidney, bladder, testicle, adrenal gland), most of which are treated with a robotic technique, which makes use of the Da Vinci Xi platform - the most advanced currently - .
The "added value" of the robotic approach to surgery is represented by:
- Three-dimensionality, magnification and very high definition of the images of the operating field
- Demultiplication of the surgeon's movements with cancellation of the physiological tremor
- Widening of the rotation angles, thanks to the total articulation of the instruments.
The highest level of "minimally invasive" is therefore guaranteed, with significant benefits in terms of reduced operating time, greater precision in the tissue dissection phase, preservation of the innervation responsible for continence and sexual potency, high clinical-biological safety ( less chance of bleeding and infectious complications), minimal scarring. The HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) technique has recently been implemented at the Institute, which allows the treatment of localized prostate tumors or those that cannot be enrolled for radical surgery through the use of high-intensity focused ultrasounds that destroy the tumor structure while preserving the surrounding tissues and allowing the preservation of sexual and urinary functions.
